COVID 19:  SDHA   Assisted 110 Persons Affected by Lockdown Effects

Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Action (SDHA) assisted 110 individuals most affected by Effects of COVID 19.

The activity took place in Nyamabuye Sector Muhanga District of Southern Province on March 29, 2020.

 The supported individuals were identified in collaboration with local authority at sector level.

 The support included   food and hygienic and protective gears equipment including maize flour,   bar soaps, jags and basins fortified soy meal (SOSOMA) sugars and ten masks for twenty families.

In that function joined by Sector representative, SDHA delegation called community member to continue respecting measures set by the government in a bid to prevent the spread of   coronavirus.  The head of SDHA delegation also called to keep hygiene as one of guidelines set to fight against coronavirus and Covid-19.

The representative of Nyamabuye Sector commended SDHA for the invaluable initiative of supporting vulnerable community members affected by COVID19.

The first case was registered on 14th March 2010 and  on 21st  March  the government  ordered  the total  lockdown  for all activities  except  essential services such as bank,  hospitals shopping  and others considered as essential and authorized movements.

The lockdown affected business which was the financial source of many especially ‘hand to mouth’ employees.  Though the lockdown was partially shifted with more services to progressively re-open, impact was observed especially for those who were having unstable jobs.
