The Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Action (SDHA) started the community Water Access project in Muhanga District, Southern Province which will benefit approximately 2300 residents of Buriza Village, Mbare Cell, Shyogwe Sector in Muhanga District.
The project was launched after consultations with Local Authorities of Muhanga District and community needs assessment conducted in July 2017. The project is set to benefit also two churches and two nursery schools and trading Centre.
the 2,5Km long Water Access project will leave 200 households as direct beneficiaries with two kiosks constructed. The project is being implemented with community participation inspired by SDHA Community participatory approach converted into its model of Self- Reliance, without external support.
The National Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC) is providing the technical and material support while SDHA main task is feasibility study, community mobilization, project technical execution and works coordination.
SDHA will also construct fund the infrastructure (water kiosks and other materials) and will establish management structure as well as required technical training of the structures.
The project is expected to increase the access to clean water from 20% to 90%in the targeted village. The completion of activities is set for May 2018 while the management training will go on up to August 2018.
