Jean Pierre Hakizimana is Agronomist Engineer-Crop Science, BA in Social Science Demography, MA in Dev. Studies and currently PhD studies on Local Economic Development/LED at UNISA-South Africa.
Eng. Jean Pierre has 15 Year-work experience. He occupied various positions at national and regional level. He is currently a National Technical Adviser for Enabel/Belgium and Ministry of Local Government in Rwanda on LED focusing on Local Governments planning and private sector development. Jean Pierre was the Country Manager for Global Water Partnership/GWP managing AU pilot program “Water Climate and Development Program-WACDEP” on Climate Policy engagement and community based climate resilience demonstration projects. He also worked for PROTOS Belgium in Great Lakes Region (Rwanda-Burundi-DRC and Uganda) as Program Manager for IWRM focusing on WASH and Agriculture. He worked for UGAMA and German Agro Action/GAA as Head of Research, Agriculture and Environment Dpt focusing on Households food security, farmers Cooperatives, Pro-poor HHs and women promotion.
Jean Pierre is a Researcher and worked (Since 2012 to date) as part-time Lecturer of Environmental resources management and IWRM at Catholic Institute of Kabgayi (ICK) and University of Lay Adventists of Kigali ( UNILAK). He performed various research and consultancies assignment with public, bilateral and International NGOs organizations namely current Climate Resilience strategy of Rwanda (FONERWA), Projects Evaluation (FEA/EU-WASAC), water supply in eastern Province (JAT-WASAC-JICA), Determination of customer satisfaction Index in Rwanda with WASAC-FEPEAR among others. Eng. Jean Pierre is Rotarian in Mother Club of Rwanda He is the founder-member of SDHA and ARDE/KUBAHO (Rwandan NGOs) and Founder (and National committees’ member) of Rwanda Civil Society Platforms of water and Environment (NBDF, WASHNET).
Eng. Jean Pierre is a development volunteer and advocates for the poor and disadvantaged groups and women. He is runner for Peace (Half-Marathon 2016,2017,2018).
