SHDA inspired by humanitarian principles

SDHA bases its humanitarian intervention on Fount International recognized Humanitarian principles of OCHA which are: humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence. These principles are central to establishing and maintaining access to affected people, whether in a natural disaster or a complex emergency, such as armed conflict or vulnerable groups. This is to Promote and ensure compliance with the principles for not only for humanitarian coordination but also equity and effectiveness.

Intervention model: Humanitarian relief disasters and refugees Program

More than 65 million people are currently fleeing conflict or persecution around the world. Due to their race, religion or nationality, these people’s homes are no longer safe places to live and their governments’ no longer provide them with protection (MSF, 2017).

Rwanda hosts around 100,000Refugees from different neighboring countries (Burundi and DRC) due to political instability in the region.

On June 30, 2013 the implementation of the Cessation Clause for Rwandan refugees came into effect as recommended by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This recommendation applies to Rwandan refugees who fled the country between 1959 and December: 31, 1998 people.

This decision occasioned many returnees in different districts of the country that need support for re- integration to the community and effective participation in national development processes.

Rwanda welcomed many returnees who came from mainly RDC and other countries

Reintegration of Rwandan returnees for their livelihoods is very crucial and need joint effort to the Government to ensure the returnees have sustainable livelihoods and their effective participation to the Development processes.

The integration encompasses many aspects namely civic education, equipment and financial support for integration, livelihoods projects, accompaniment for effective social economic integration to the society. In this line therefore, SDHA hands with the Government of Rwanda, UNHCR, districts and other stakeholders to repatriate and reintegrate Rwanda as well as carry out actions aiming at humanly dignifying the refugees on Rwanda territory currently having multiple needs.
