The Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Action (SDHA) was among three delegates from Rwanda that attended the regional General Assembly and Summit of Nile Basin Discourse (NBD) held in Entebbe Uganda from 27-28 and 29-30 November 2017.
The chair of SDHA was among the three Rwanda delegates from Nile Basin Discourse Forum (NBDF Rwanda) to represent Rwanda among other Civil Society organizations in 11 Nile Riparian Countries (Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Egypt, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea and Kenya).
Regional General Assembly of NBD had the agenda to approve the financial and technical reports, end renewal of the regional committee. The technical and financial reports as well as communication strategy have been endorsed by the General Assembly.
The GA also elected the new office bearers and the executive committee where Ms Verdiane NYIRAMANA from was elected vice chairperson of the executive committee of the Board. She was elected along with Professor MUAWIA Hamid Shaddad from Sudan (Chairperson), Mr. Donald M. KASONGI from Tanzania (Secretary General) and Mr. Gérard NIZIGIYIMANA from BURUNDI as Treasurer.
On the other hand, SDHA also was represented of the chairperson attended the Nile basin Discourse Summit held from 29-30th November 2017 at the same Venue. The regional Summit gathered delegates other delegates from Nile countries and abroad being academia, researchers, and civil society and NBD partner organizations.
In the summit, different presentations on Nile ecosystem, history and Governance were shared and discussed together with group discussions and plenary. The 5-year strategic plan was presented and approved by members.
