Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Action (SDHA), July 28, 2023, bade farewell to two students from Rice University after a successful professional internship carried out over three months.
The duo was based in Muhanga Districts, in Southern Province, and were working closely with communities in areas of WASH, cooperatives, financial institutions, local industries-maize value chains, schools, communities, and households.
SDHA has entered into a partnership with RICE University to allow students and researchers to perform their research in areas of choice as stipulated by the partnership framework.
SDHA is open for both Local and international university students and researchers to carry out their activities at SDHA working with research and professional team. In this regard, SDHA has a partnership agreement with Rice University of Houston in the US for University outreach programs and research including the student’s internship.
Charlotte Heely and Hawa Diallo commended the intervention of SDHA in the community and confirmed having gained new skills, experience, and understanding of development contexts which was a good complement to their theoretical studies.
For three months they worked with SDHA beneficiaries and partners including but not limited to farmers’ cooperatives, financial institutions, local industries-maize value chains, schools, communities, and households.
Mr. Laurien Jyambere, the National Executive Secretary of SDHA, and was attended by Mr. Muhizi Léopold thanked the RICE University intern for successfully achieving three months and said that their internship was a moment of learning for the entire staff and volunteers of SDHA. He thanked the university and SDHA staff for all facilitation of the students.
