Visit of the Woven Foundation Rwanda Delegation to SDHA

On Friday, 21 November 2025, Sustainable Development & Humanitarian Action (SDHA) hosted a delegation from the Woven Foundation Rwanda. The visiting team included leaders from three national organisations: Hope of Family (Muhanga), Peacedu Initiative Rwanda, and Dorcas Consolation Family (Kayonza).

The delegation was welcomed by the SDHA Chairperson, Dr. Hakizimana Jean Pierre, the Vice Chair, Mr. Laurien Jyambere, the Executive Director, Ms. Aurore Umulisa, and the SDHA staff team. The objective of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of SDHA’s community-driven initiatives, exchange development models, and promote mutual learning among organisations committed to improving community wellbeing.

The visit began with a briefing session at the SDHA office, followed by a field tour to key community beneficiaries. The delegation visited the KABC (Koperative y’Abahinzi ba Cyebya) and the Buliza Water Users Committee, where they interacted directly with community members.

During the field visit, the delegation expressed appreciation for SDHA’s accomplishments, and the positive impact observed in the community. They noted several high-impact interventions, including advocacy efforts that enabled rural households to access electricity, the construction of the Kiyovu–Buliza–Gatobotobo water supply system through a community-driven model, and ongoing technical support provided to farmers and savings groups.

The delegation commended SDHA’s participatory development approach, highlighting its strong emphasis on local ownership and sustainability. The engagements of the day contributed to a rich exchange of best practices and strengthened prospects for future collaboration between SDHA, the Woven Foundation, and its partner organisations.
